Our Story

The Fear family have been making Cider for as long as anyone can remember, but the first commercial batch was sold by Mr Metford Fear to a public house in Weston Super Mare.

Then the same cider was made for friends, family and farm workers by John Fear on his farms in  Somerset. John in turn passed down the art of real cider making to his son Andrew.

In 2005, Andrew, having settled in Nottinghamshire and realising the commercial potential of the cider began to produce it, as “Thirsty Farmer Cider”, to sell  at Country Fairs and Food Festivals.

Since then, “Thirsty Farmer Cider” has continued to grow in popularity. And has won CAMRA’s Best Cider in the East Midlands ans 2 Gold stars in the Guild of Fine Food Great Taste Awards.

Today Thirsty Farmer Cider is considered the original Nottinghamshire Cider and continues to be enjoyed countrywide in shops, public houses and online.

What our customers think of us

Bought Thirsty Farmer 10 liter vintage bag in box after reading about CAMRA’s real cider campaign. This appeared on CAMRA’s real cider list and could be ordered and delivered by amazon. Perfect. Had three boxes so far and it’s lush. Smooth, slightly dry, not too sweet, easy drinking. The amazing thing is, that after a night on this, I feel right as rain the next day.

Thirsty Farmer cloudy truly is the nectar of the Gods. I have yet to find a quality cider that comes in this decent quantity. Really good craftsmanship from these cider makers and I have recommended them to my mates. Definitely a solid buy for any cider lovers!
Great taste, strength and value for money! The 10 litre box is also the perfect fit for the fridge.
